Our Country
India is my native land. It is a vast beautiful and ancient land. The Himalayas crown the country to the north. The roaring Indian ocean washes up her feet to the south. Bangladesh, Myanmar make the boundary to her eastern side and the Arabian Sea and Pakistan are to the west. India is a land of varieties. Many big rivers like the Ganga, Brahmaputra, Indus, Godavari, Cauvery, etc. make the Indian soil fertile. There is also a barren desert like the ‘Thar’ in Rajasthan. One can see plain green lands in the river basins. Again, the highest plateau ‘Pamir’ is a part of this country. There are deep forests like the Sundarban, and the Duars. There are 28 states and 7 union territories in India. New Delhi is the capital of our country. The population of the country is over 100 crores. People of various races and tribes live together in India. Different languages, religions and customs are practised here. It is the largest democratic and secular country. It has a rich and glorious culture and heritage.
